Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to procure qualified and experienced service providers to perform helium gas line pressure testing, leak detection, and repairs. The process aims to ensure safety, compliance with environmental standards, and reliable operation of ERWAT's scientific infrastructure. Additionally, the procurement seeks to promote fair, transparent, and competitive bidding, obtain value for money, and support local economic development and transformation objectives by encouraging participation of SMMEs and disadvantaged groups.

Scope

The scope involves:

• Pressure testing of an existing helium gas line approximately 65 meters in length.
• Detection and repair of leaks, including instrument connections.
• Replacement of standard flexible hoses, needle shut-off valves, and bullnoses/nuts.
• Site inspection to confirm pipe length and composition.
• Delivery to ERWAT Laboratory (Scientific Services) at specified location.

The work must be performed by a SACGA (or equivalent) registered gas service provider, with the total bid value not exceeding R200,000 (including VAT).

Technical Requirements

• Pressure testing of helium gas lines.
• Leak detection and repair, including instrument connections.
• Replacement of hoses, valves, and fittings as specified.
• Site visit for pipe confirmation.
• Provision of proof of compliance with relevant certifications and standards.

Skills and Skills Requirements

• Certified expertise in helium gas line pressure testing and leak detection.
• Registration with SACGA or an equivalent authority.
• Experience in handling and repairing high-pressure gas lines.
• Ability to perform precise leak detection and repairs on instrument connections.
• Capability to replace hoses, valves, and fittings according to specifications.
• Knowledge of safety standards and environmental compliance related to gas line maintenance.
• Site inspection and assessment skills to confirm pipe details.
