Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified supplier to install bird netting across various specified locations within the University of Johannesburg (UJ) campuses. The installation is to be carried out for a period of three years, ensuring effective bird control measures are in place to protect campus infrastructure and maintain a safe environment.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Installation of bird netting at multiple locations including:
• APK Akanya Building
• APB Student Center
• Doornfontein Campus (DFC) 3rd Floor, 6th Floor, and 1st Floor
• SWC Funda UJabule Primary School (Soweto Campus)
• APK D-Lab Balconies
• Installation of additional bird deterrent measures such as repellent gels on structural supports.
• Installation of automatic door closers at specified gates to prevent doors from being left open.
• Provision of maintenance and repair services with a minimum turnaround time of one week.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of clear bird netting material suitable for high-rise and varied site conditions.
• Installation of nets with hooks for easy maintenance access.
• Application of repellent gel on structural supports such as I-beams and cross-angle supports.
• Installation of auto door closers at designated gates to ensure doors remain closed.
• Adherence to safety and quality standards during installation across all sites.

Skills Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Relevant experience in installing bird netting, particularly on high-rise buildings and complex sites, with successful project completion letters.
• Strong project management capabilities, including resource allocation and scheduling.
• Manufacturing or sourcing of high-quality bird netting materials.
• Availability to respond to repair and maintenance requests within one week.
• Experience working across multiple sites with diverse structural conditions.
