Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a Medical Air Compressor that supplies clean, oil-free, uncontaminated, and medical-grade compressed air suitable for respiratory support, anesthesia delivery, and powering surgical tools at St Marys Marianhill Hospital.

Scope

The scope includes the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, demonstration, and end-user training of a Medical Air Compressor system. The compressor must operate off 220/240 Volt 50Hz power supply, meet specified technical standards, and include optional accessories and consumables as detailed in the specifications. The project also encompasses providing maintenance and service agreements, training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Technical Requirements

• The compressor must operate on 220/240 Volt, 50Hz power supply.
• The compressor must have a continuous output of at least 60 L.P.M. at 3 bar and a peak flow of no less than 100 L.P.M. for 1 second.
• The unit must be CE certified and ISO 9001 certified.
• The compressor must be water and oil free, supplying dry medical-grade air.
• The compressor must have a noise level below 50 dBA at 1 meter distance.
• The unit must include a hospital-grade mains cable at least 3 meters long.
• The compressor should have overload protection, pressure gauges, automatic start/stop functions, and alarms for low pressure.
• The compressor must be CE approved and manufactured at an ISO 9001 certified facility.
• The system must include built-in hour meters, and be capable of withstanding ambient temperatures from 10°C to 40°C with humidity below 85%.
• Guarantee minimum 24 months, with provisions for maintenance, repairs, and spare parts availability for at least 10 years.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 for electrical safety.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying and installing medical-grade compressor systems.
• Qualified technical personnel trained and certified by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to service and repair the compressor.
• Capability to provide comprehensive training to hospital staff on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the compressor.
• Established service and repair facilities within KwaZulu-Natal with qualified technicians available within 24 hours.
• Ability to supply and support optional accessories, consumables, and spare parts for a minimum of 10 years.
• Demonstrated compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and certification requirements.
