Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a once-off service for the maintenance and servicing of the FCL Johannesburg Generator, specifically a comprehensive inspection, repair, and testing of the existing Volvo Penta TAD941GE generator to ensure optimal operational performance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Inspection and draining of engine oil, replacing filters (engine oil, fuel, air), and refilling with manufacturer-recommended items.
• Testing and adjusting engine components such as belts, hoses, cooling systems, and electrical connections.
• Performing operational load and no-load tests, recording voltage, frequency, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage.
• Cleaning and internal/external servicing of the generator set.
• Providing a detailed service report with findings and recommendations.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of manufacturer-approved oils, filters, and coolant.
• Inspection and testing of electrical and mechanical components including alternator, drive belts, and control panels.
• Operational testing to verify generator performance under load conditions.
• Adherence to safety standards and compliance with SABS and other relevant standards.
• Provision of a comprehensive generator load-test report upon completion.
• Availability of project supervisor on-site during service activities.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to possess:

• CIDB registration with a minimum grading of 1ME or higher.
• Relevant experience in generator maintenance and servicing, specifically with Volvo Penta or similar generators.
• Qualified and certified diesel mechanics or millwrights with proven track record.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, operate testing equipment, and produce detailed reports.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including submission of a valid OHS Act declaration.
• Capability to manage the project efficiently, including site inspection, coordination, and timely completion.
