Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for the Free State Laboratories over a period of three years, with services to be rendered every three months. The goal is to ensure effective pest management, including control of insects such as cockroaches, fleas, flies, ants, and potentially snakes, in the laboratory facilities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of pest control services at multiple NHLS facilities in the Free State region.
• Regular spraying and treatment of specified pests (cockroaches, fleas, flies, ants, snakes where applicable).
• Application of pesticides at designated locations within the facilities.
• Issuance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals used, along with certificates of treatment valid for 6 to 12 months post-treatment.
• Work to be performed once every three months over a three-year period.
• Additional pest management for other pests such as stinkbugs, wasps, bees, mosquitoes, snakes, and lizards as needed.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with the Department of Agriculture or Pest Control Operator License.
• Provision of a structural pest control license and registration with the South African Pest Control Association.
• Use of approved chemicals, including hazardous substances, with MSDS documentation provided.
• Issuance of certificates of treatment valid for 6 to 12 months after each service.
• Adherence to safety and manufacturing practices, with chemical usage in accordance with MSDS guidelines.
• Performing treatments at scheduled intervals (every 3 months) for the duration of the contract.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to laboratory operations, including work on weekends if necessary.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified pest control operators with valid licenses and registration.
• Experience in managing pest control in laboratory or healthcare environments.
• Ability to handle hazardous chemicals safely and in compliance with safety standards.
• Capability to provide documentation such as MSDS, certificates of treatment, and compliance certificates.
• Competence in site inspection, pest identification, and tailored pest management strategies.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and coordination with NHLS staff.
