Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install air conditioners across various offices at the National Institute for Occupational Health (NIOH) in Braamfontein. The project aims to enhance climate control within the institute's facilities by providing appropriately specified air conditioning units and ensuring their proper installation, maintenance, and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of various types of air conditioners (including split, under-ceiling, and hideaway units) with specified capacities ranging from 12,000 BTU to 60,000 BTU.
• Installation of air conditioning units, including outdoor and indoor components, ducting, piping, controllers, and associated electrical and plumbing works.
• Provision of related services such as site preparation, electrical wiring, plumbing, and finishing works (painting, tiling, drywall partitioning, glazing, etc.).
• Guarantee, maintenance, and service provisions for the installed units, including minor and major servicing during the warranty period.
• Compliance with technical, safety, and regulatory standards as specified in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the air conditioning units and installation include:

• Units must be of reputable brands such as LG, Carrier, York, Samsung, Daikin, or similar, with specified capacities and features.
• Units should use R410A refrigerant and include digital controllers, remote controls, and wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted configurations as specified.
• Installation must adhere to manufacturer’s specifications and relevant standards, including electrical and plumbing codes.
• Electrical wiring must be carried out by registered electricians, with compliance to SANS10142 and relevant safety standards.
• Site works include drywall partitioning, painting, tiling, glazing, and finishing to match existing environments.
• All materials and workmanship must be compliant with SABS, ISO, and other applicable standards.
• Guarantee period of 12 months with provisions for repairs and servicing as specified.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• CIDB registration with a grading of 1ME or higher.
• Experience in installing and maintaining similar air conditioning systems, with references and completion certificates for projects of comparable scope and value.
• Qualified and registered electricians and plumbers for electrical and plumbing works.
• Skilled personnel for drywall, painting, tiling, glazing, and carpentry works.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including occupational health and safety compliance.
• Ability to coordinate site activities, liaise with hospital management, and work within operational constraints of the facility.
• Provision of proof of CIDB grading, B-BBEE status, tax compliance, and relevant certifications.
