Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure renovation services for the canteen at NHLS Sandringham Campus. The project aims to upgrade and refurbish the canteen facilities to meet operational, safety, and aesthetic standards, ensuring a functional and compliant environment for staff and visitors.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Renovation of the canteen seating area, including tiling, painting, and carpentry works.
• Installation of new flooring, wall tiles, and ceiling finishes.
• Refurbishment of kitchen and toilet facilities, including plumbing, electrical, and sanitary installations.
• Construction of drywall partitions and installation of doors, windows, and glazing.
• Provision of electrical and mechanical services such as lighting, power outlets, Geysers, and emergency showers.
• Application of finishes, including painting, tiling, and carpentry.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Adherence to the specifications for materials such as tiles, paints, fixtures, and fittings, all of which must be SABS approved.
• Installation of safety glass, laminated glass, and tinted windows as per standards.
• Electrical installations to comply with SANS10142 and be carried out by registered electricians, including certification of compliance.
• Plumbing works to be performed by licensed plumbers, with specified fixtures and fittings.
• Construction of drywall partitions with fire-rated and acoustic properties where required.
• Application of finishes including painting, tiling, and carpentry, with attention to quality and durability.
• Provision of safety measures, signage, and site management to ensure safe working conditions.

Skills Requirements

The project mandates the following skills and qualifications for bidders and personnel:

• Registration with CIDB in at least 2GB or higher grading for construction works.
• Licensed electricians registered with relevant authorities (e.g., SAQCC).
• Licensed plumbers registered with PIRB and with COIDA good standing.
• Qualified carpenters and tilers with proven experience in commercial renovations.
• Certified safety officers to oversee health and safety compliance on site.
• Project managers with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar projects, capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Skilled workers familiar with SABS standards and quality assurance procedures.
