Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the renovation of the canteen at NHLS Sandringham Campus. The project aims to upgrade and refurbish the canteen facilities, including tiling, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installations, and other related works, ensuring the space is functional, compliant with standards, and suitable for operational use.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses a comprehensive renovation of the canteen area, including but not limited to:

• Removal and replacement of existing tiles (floor, wall, and skirting tiles)
• Painting of walls, ceilings, doors, and windows
• Carpentry works such as installation of new counters, cupboards, shelving, and doors
• Flooring works including tiling and epoxy coating
• Wall tiling and glazing, including safety glass installation
• Installation of new plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, urinals, geysers, emergency showers)
• Electrical installations including new wiring, lighting, and power outlets
• Installation of suspended ceilings, drywall partitions, and other interior finishes
• Provision for contingencies and compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that all work must adhere to:

• Standards set by SABS, ISO, and relevant South African legislation
• Manufacturer’s specifications for materials and finishes
• Safety regulations including Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993
• Proper certification for electrical and gas installations (Electrical Certificate of Completion, Gas Certificate of Compliance)
• Use of approved and certified materials (e.g., tiles, glass, paints, plumbing fixtures)
• Work must be coordinated with hospital operations to minimize disruption, especially around sensitive equipment and operating theatres
• Completion within the stipulated timeframe with penalties for delays

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:

• CIDB registration with a grading of 2GB or higher for construction works
• Licensed electricians and plumbers with relevant trade certificates and registration (e.g., PIRB, SAQCC)
• Experienced project managers and supervisors with at least 5 years of relevant project management experience
• Skilled carpenters, tilers, painters, and drywall installers familiar with commercial renovation standards
• Certified professionals for electrical and gas installations
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary trades and work within operational hospital environments
• Provision of relevant documentation such as company registration, tax compliance, and previous project references
