The primary objective is to execute comprehensive renovations across designated areas of the Witpoort Laboratory facility. The project aims to upgrade infrastructure, install specialized laboratory furniture and fittings, and improve utility systems while ensuring uninterrupted hospital and laboratory operations.
The renovation covers multiple functional zones, including:
All works must be executed in phases to accommodate ongoing clinical and laboratory activities. Operations may require after-hours or weekend work, with strict controls on vibration and noise near sensitive equipment and operating theaters.
Operational Constraints: The facility remains fully operational throughout the project. Contractors must coordinate all disruptive activities with management, avoid vibration near sensitive electronics, and secure written consent before altering shared infrastructure.
Preferential Procurement (80/20 System): Evaluation awards 80 points to price competitiveness and 20 points to Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) specific goals, including ownership by black people, women, youth, persons with disabilities, and residents of rural/township areas, as well as Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs) and Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs).
Fixed Pricing & Risk Allocation: The contractor assumes all financial and operational risks. Rates remain binding for the contract duration, with no allowances for inflation, currency fluctuation, or unforeseen site conditions beyond the specified contingency allowance.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
