Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver end connectors and insulating sleeves, specifically the Insulating Sleeve No.2 PVC (SAP No. 5511), to meet City Power Johannesburg's requirements for electrical cable connections. The tender aims to ensure the provision of high-quality, compliant components that facilitate quick, safe, and reliable cable terminations, while also promoting supplier compliance with technical, quality, and socio-economic goals.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses:

• Provision of end connectors and insulating sleeves as per specified technical standards (CP_TSSPEC_101).
• Supply of components suitable for connecting copper conductors up to specified sizes (e.g., 16 mm², 35 mm²).
• Packaging, marking, and documentation in accordance with City Power’s requirements.
• Provision of technical data, installation instructions, and training where applicable.
• Compliance with quality management systems, specifically ISO 9001:2015.
• Adherence to socio-economic goals such as BBBEE ownership and disability inclusion.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the components include:

• The end connectors shall be metal with a socket head grub screw, suitable for copper conductors up to specified sizes.
• The insulating sleeves shall be PVC, re-usable, and marked with the connector size number.
• Components must be marked with size, trade mark, and comply with the specified marking and packing standards.
• Materials used shall be rubber or PVC, with specified color options (e.g., red, black).
• All products must meet the detailed constructional, marking, packing, and documentation requirements outlined in the specifications.
• Suppliers must provide technical catalogues, installation instructions, and training as part of their submission.
• Quality management systems must be certified to ISO 9001:2015, verified through certification bodies.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires suppliers to demonstrate:

• Provision of certified staff training, including certification of delegates and on-site training programs.
• Experience in manufacturing or supplying electrical connectors and insulating sleeves that meet international standards.
• Ability to provide technical documentation, including type test reports, catalogues, and technical data sheets.
• Compliance with quality management standards (ISO 9001:2015) and the ability to undergo audits and verification processes.
• Understanding of socio-economic goals, including BBBEE certification and disability inclusion, with evidence of ownership and management diversity.
• Capacity to supply products that are re-usable, properly marked, and packaged to prevent damage during transportation.
