Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the supply and delivery of electrical cables, specifically various types of cables including copper and aluminum conductors, for City Power Johannesburg. The aim is to ensure the procurement of quality electrical cables that meet specified standards, support City Power’s operational needs, and promote local content and BBBEE compliance.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of a range of electrical cables, including:

• Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulated cables of various core configurations and sizes (e.g., 1.5mm², 2.5mm², 4mm², etc.)
• Round, flat, and shaped conductors made from copper or aluminum
• Specific cable types such as cabtyre, Norse, and other insulated wire types suitable for electrical distribution
• Stock items listed in the tender, with detailed specifications and technical requirements

The delivery is to be direct to City Power stores, with strict adherence to technical, quality, safety, and environmental standards as specified in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with relevant standards such as SANS 1411, SANS 1777, and other referenced standards
• Conductor specifications including material type (copper or aluminum), cross-sectional area, and construction (solid, stranded, flexible, shaped)
• Insulation and sheathing requirements with PVC and other specified materials
• Electrical performance parameters such as maximum resistance, elongation at break, tensile strength, and temperature correction factors
• Type test reports confirming compliance with specifications
• Proper marking, cataloging, and documentation for traceability
• Adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 where applicable
• Local content threshold of at least 90%, with proof of compliance

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires suppliers to demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in manufacturing, testing, and supplying electrical cables and conductors
• Ability to provide certified type test reports and technical catalogues
• Knowledge of relevant standards and specifications (SANS, ISO, OHSAS)

• Experience in handling large-scale procurement and logistics for electrical components
• Compliance with BBBEE and local content requirements, supported by valid certificates and documentation
• Ability to complete and submit all required documentation, including MBD forms, declaration of interest, and deviation schedules
