Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to procure services for the repairs and servicing of air-conditioning units in SAPS Main Station at Loop Street, Pietermaritzburg. The aim is to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of air-conditioning systems across multiple specified locations within the station.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, repair, and servicing of various air-conditioning units in SAPS Main Station, including units at locations such as A23, A21, A18, A15, A8, A5, A7, G3, G2, G4, and G11. The work involves assessment, repair, servicing, and ensuring operational readiness of the air-conditioning systems as specified in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

• Complete repairs and servicing of split air-conditioning units of various capacities (e.g., 9 000BTU to 48 000BTU).
• Provision of assessment reports, one-month guarantees, and compliance with relevant standards and codes.
• Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards.
• Provision of qualified technicians with recognized qualifications (e.g., National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, trade test registration with SAQCC).
• Use of approved materials and equipment suitable for the systems and compliant with manufacturer specifications and legal standards.
• Implementation of safety plans, security clearance, and confidentiality protocols.
• Provision of warranties and guarantees for work performed, with a defect liability period of six months.
• Compliance with environmental and municipal laws, including proper disposal of waste materials.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified HVAC technicians or artisans with recognized certifications (e.g., SAQCC registration, diploma, or trade test).
• Experience in servicing and repairing similar air-conditioning systems, demonstrated through past projects and references.
• Ability to prepare detailed assessment reports, work schedules, and cash flow forecasts.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Competence in executing repairs using approved materials and equipment, ensuring quality workmanship.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with project managers, security personnel, and clients.
• Capacity to respond promptly to emergency repairs and urgent work requests.
