Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install a 5250 litres vertical water storage tank at the Langlaagte Depot, including associated pipes, fittings, and a pump. The project aims to ensure reliable water storage and supply infrastructure at the specified location, adhering to quality, safety, and technical standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and installation of a 5250 litres vertical water tank with pipes, fittings, and pump.
• Construction of a concrete slab and foundation for the tank.
• Excavation, trenching, backfilling, and civil works related to the tank installation.
• Connection of the tank to existing municipal water lines, including cutting and fitting pipes.
• Installation of valves, brick chambers, and associated fittings.
• Electrical supply and connection for the pump and associated electrical components.
• Testing and commissioning of the entire water storage system.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Supply of a water tank with a floating valve kit, connected to municipal water supply.
• Construction of brick chambers for valves and fittings, with lids.
• Connection of pipes, fittings, and pump with flow control switches, non-return valves, and appropriate chambers.
• Electrical components including outdoor power socket, circuit breaker, electrical cables, PVC conduits, and connectors.
• Compliance with relevant standards and specifications for civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
• Water testing to ensure proper operation of the floating valve, pump, and valves.

Skills Requirements

The tender specifies the need for qualified personnel, including:

• A site agent with a relevant Civil Engineering qualification (NS Certificate or higher) and experience in piping and earthworks.
• Licensed plumber with active registration with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB), with proof of membership.
• Skilled workers for civil works, pipe installation, electrical wiring, and testing.
• Experience in civil and mechanical construction projects of similar scope and complexity.
• Ability to adhere to safety, health, and environmental standards, including site safety protocols and PPE requirements.
