Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure 50,000 units of tablet packets measuring 104mm x 120mm for use in packing patient medications at King Dinuzulu Hospital. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of suitable packaging materials that meet specified standards and specifications, supporting the hospital's medication management processes.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of resealable, polyethylene-based tablet packets in the specified size and format, including the provision of detailed brochures or samples as required. The packets must conform to the detailed specifications provided, including dimensions, material thickness, coating, and overprinting requirements. The procurement is a once-off contract with a validity period of 90 days from the date of advertisement.

Technical Requirements

• Item Description: Resealable polyethylene bags for tablets, size approximately 104mm (W) x 120mm (L).
• Material: Polyethylene with a thickness of about 60 microns, coated with matt white lacquer to facilitate writing and printing.
• Design: Conventional continuous chain format with perforations between bags.
• Overprint: Additional information to be overprinted on the face of the packet below the multilingual children’s warning, as specified by the Pharmacy Department.
• Size and Dimensions: Approximately 104mm width and 120mm length.
• Quantity: 50,000 units (packs of 1,000 resealable bags each).
• Packaging: Each pack contains 1,000 resealable bags.
• Samples or detailed brochures must be submitted with the quotation for evaluation.
• Compliance with attached specifications and evaluation criteria is mandatory.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in manufacturing or supplying pharmaceutical packaging materials, specifically resealable polyethylene bags.
• Ability to produce packaging that meets detailed technical specifications, including size, material quality, coating, and overprinting.
• Capability to provide samples and detailed brochures for evaluation prior to award.
• Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to pharmaceutical packaging, including adherence to the specifications attached and certification requirements such as B-BBEE certificates and CSD registration.
• Understanding of procurement procedures, including submission of accurate documentation, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with the Department’s policies and regulations.
