Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit qualified contractors to undertake repairs to the Westsport boundary wall, specifically focusing on concrete palisade and brick wall repairs at the University of Johannesburg, Doornfontein Campus. The project aims to restore and strengthen the boundary infrastructure, ensuring compliance with university standards and safety requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Preparation of foundations prior to the mounting of the precast concrete wall.
• Demolition of existing boundary brick wall (2.4m high) and precast concrete perimeter fence (2.4m high).
• Construction of a new precast concrete fencing (3.6m high) with specified finishes and structural supports.
• Provision of necessary site works, including excavation, carting away of debris, and reinstatement.
• Implementation of security services and provisional sums as detailed in the bill of quantities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to the specifications outlined in Annexure A, including materials, workmanship, and construction methodology.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as CIDB Grade 3GB or higher.
• Preparation and submission of a detailed project plan and methodology demonstrating logistical arrangements, timelines, and project management approach.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including a site agent and general foreman, with relevant experience and certifications.
• Completion of the project within the specified timeframe, with a construction program aligned with the Bill of Quantities.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Relevant work experience with similar boundary wall repairs, supported by appointment letters, certificates, and references from projects completed within the last five years.
• Capability to provide a qualified project team, including:
• Site Agent: with a national diploma or higher qualification, and more than 2 years of post-qualification experience.
• General Foreman: with a valid trade certificate and more than 2 years of post-qualification experience.
• Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive project methodology, including risk mitigation strategies.
• Proven track record of completing projects within budget and schedule constraints.
