Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage an independent and experienced service provider to perform a comprehensive customs clearing audit for South African Airways Technical (SAAT). The audit aims to assess compliance with customs legislation and international trade requirements, identify potential gaps or risks in current practices, and recommend corrective measures to enhance efficiency, compliance, and cost savings. This ensures that all customs clearing processes are conducted accurately, legally, and efficiently, minimizing penalties, delays, and reputational risks associated with non-compliance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting a detailed audit of import and export documentation such as Bills of Entry, invoices, packing lists, shipping documents, and customs declarations.
• Verifying the accuracy and completeness of supporting documentation submitted to customs authorities.
• Confirming adherence to statutory record-keeping requirements and verifying duty, VAT, and other tax calculations during the clearing process.
• Identifying instances of over- or under-declaration, potential non-compliance, and irregularities.
• Highlighting risks related to penalties, interest charges, or reputational damage due to non-compliance.
• Providing practical recommendations for corrective actions, process improvements, and measures to strengthen governance, transparency, and accountability.
