Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the diagnosis, repair, and servicing of the standby diesel generator at South Hill Water Pump Station. The aim is to ensure the generator's optimal performance, safety, and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Diagnosis of the standby diesel generator
• Repair work as required
• Cleaning of the generator components
• Servicing of the generator in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, including but not limited to:
• Replacement of antifreeze, filters, degreasers, etc.
• Performance testing

The work is to be conducted at South Hill Water Pump Station, with an estimated duration to be confirmed.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and relevant standards (SANS, ASTM, API, ACEA, OEM)
• Proper diagnosis, repair, and servicing of the generator
• Preparation and submission of a safety file prior to commencement
• Implementation of safe working procedures and method statements
• Use of appropriate tools and equipment, ensuring safety and compliance
• Adherence to SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) standards including risk assessments, PPE, and incident reporting
• Proper management of spillages, electrical safety, lifting operations, and working at heights

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires contractors to demonstrate:

• Qualified personnel including a Construction Supervisor, Electrician, and Safety Officer with relevant certificates and CVs
• Competence in operating and maintaining diesel generators
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety inductions, and toolbox talks
• Ability to prepare and submit SHE documentation, including safety files, risk assessments, and method statements
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and standards (e.g., SHE requirements, electrical regulations, lifting operations)
• Proficiency in handling hazardous materials and spillages safely
• Capacity to implement and monitor safety measures throughout the project duration
