Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, install, and commission hydraulic piping from the hydraulic powerpack to DN 380 sleeve valve cylinders at Pongolapoort Dam. Additionally, the scope includes load testing and certifying a 5-ton crane, pumping out water from the canal compartment, inspecting and refurbishing sleeve valve cylinders, and ensuring all work complies with relevant safety and technical standards.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Pumping out approximately 530m³ of water from the canal compartment around the DN 380 sleeve valve.
• Installing hydraulic piping from the valve cylinders to the control room, mounted on walls with stainless steel clamps and adaptors.
• Inspecting and refurbishing the submerged hydraulic cylinders (DN70).
• Load testing and certifying a 5-ton crane for sealing the canal line.
• Pumping water to facilitate maintenance activities.
• Ensuring all electrical connections, backup power, and safety measures are in place.
• Adhering to occupational health and safety regulations throughout the project duration.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Hydraulic piping installation from the powerpack to DN 380 sleeve valve cylinders, matching existing pipe diameters with stainless steel clamps and adaptors.
• Load testing of a 5-ton crane by a qualified institution, with certificates issued to the Department of Water and Sanitation.
• Pumping out approximately 530m³ of water from the canal to facilitate maintenance.
• Inspection and refurbishment of submerged hydraulic cylinders (DN70).
• Provision of a backup power supply (generator) to ensure continuous operation.
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations, including submission of a comprehensive OHS plan.
• Installation of hydraulic piping on walls, with scaffolding if necessary, and proper corrosion protection measures.
• Adherence to the technical specifications and drawings provided in the tender documentation.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in hydraulic piping installation, including mounting and connection of stainless steel pipes and components.
• Capability to perform load testing and certify lifting equipment such as cranes, with certificates issued by accredited institutions.
• Proficiency in water pumping and site dewatering activities.
• Ability to inspect, refurbish, and maintain hydraulic cylinders submerged in water.
• Qualified personnel for electrical work, including backup power supply installation.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, with a proven safety management system.
• Experience in working within dam and canal environments, adhering to environmental and safety standards.
• Capability to prepare and submit comprehensive technical and safety documentation, including OHS files and quality control plans.
