Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a performing artist or group for the annual Mapungubwe Lecture Series at Mapungubwe National Park, scheduled for October 10-12, 2025. The selected artist will engage with a diverse audience comprising guests from conservation, tourism, corporate sectors, media, and cultural heritage sectors. The artist is expected to participate in event preparations, including a briefing session and sound check, and to deliver a performance that reflects cultural influences from Limpopo or neighboring regions.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing a performance during the Mapungubwe Lecture Series event from October 10-12, 2025.
• Attending a compulsory one-hour briefing session with SANParks upon appointment.
• Participating in a dry run/sound check on October 11, 2025, from 14:00 to 15:00.
• Performing at the main event scheduled between 17:00 and 23:00 on October 11, 2025.
• Ensuring the artist’s profile includes links to music, years of industry experience, recent shows, audience sizes, and a technical rider.
• Music performed should be influenced by the cultures of Limpopo (Venda/Pedi/Tsonga), Botswana, or Zimbabwe.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Artist Profile: Must include links to music, years in the industry, recent shows with audience numbers, and a technical rider.
• Cultural Influence: Music should be influenced (musically, lyrically, or both) by Limpopo cultures (Venda/Pedi/Tsonga), Botswana, or Zimbabwe.
• Experience: The artist must have at least one year of industry experience, with a preference for those with more than three years and multiple recordings (albums or EPs).
• Genre: Music genre should be Traditional, Indie, or Folk.
• Audience Engagement: Ability to engage an audience of 100 or more people, demonstrated through recent shows and audience sizes.
• Location: The performance will be in Mapungubwe National Park, approximately 70 km west of Musina.
• Pricing Schedule: The artist’s fees, including transport and accommodation (provided by SANParks), must be detailed with a subtotal, VAT (15%), and total amount.

Additionally, the artist must comply with all legislative and procurement requirements, including submission of relevant documents such as the artist profile, technical rider, and proof of cultural influence. Payment will be made within 30 days of invoice receipt, and the bid must remain valid for 90 days from the closing date.
