Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to facilitate the construction of Phase 4 of the Mphuthumi Mafumbatha Sports Field. The project aims to develop comprehensive sports facilities, including earthworks, concrete structures, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, carpentry, plumbing, drainage, fencing, landscaping, and associated infrastructure, to create a fully functional sports complex that meets specified standards and requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses all aspects of construction and installation as detailed in the tender documents, including but not limited to:

• Earthworks, excavation, filling, and site clearance
• Concrete works, formwork, reinforcement, and structural elements
• Masonry, brickwork, and face brick installations
• Waterproofing, damp proofing, and roofing systems
• Roof coverings, claddings, flashings, and water disposal systems
• Carpentry, joinery, doors, ceilings, partitions, and access flooring
• Floor and wall tiling, skirting, and finishes
• Plumbing, drainage, stormwater, and water storage tanks
• Electrical, fire detection, and specialist installations
• Fencing, gates, grandstands, seating, signage, and external works
• Landscaping, sports facilities, and ancillary structures
• Provision of temporary services, site management, and safety measures

The scope also includes associated provisional sums, allowances, and specialist works as specified.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify adherence to relevant standards, specifications, and best practices, including:

• Compliance with JBCC Edition 6.2 May 2018 and other relevant codes
• Implementation of approved design, shop drawings, and method statements
• Use of approved materials, products, and systems with necessary certifications
• Proper execution of earthworks, concrete, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, and finishes
• Installation of structural steelwork, metalwork, and cladding as per specifications
• Provision of adequate temporary supports, safety measures, and environmental controls
• Implementation of quality control, testing, and inspection procedures
• Effective management of site access, logistics, and coordination of subcontractors
• Provision of as-built drawings, guarantees, and maintenance manuals upon completion

Skills and Competencies Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

• Proven experience in large-scale sports facility construction and infrastructure projects
• Competence in earthworks, concrete, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, and finishes
• Qualified personnel for design responsibility, site supervision, and management
• Capability to prepare and submit detailed shop drawings, method statements, and schedules
• Knowledge of relevant standards, safety regulations, and environmental legislation
• Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and specialist contractors effectively
• Experience in managing temporary works, safety, and environmental controls
• Financial stability and capacity to undertake the scope of work
• Provision of quality assurance, testing, and commissioning services
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects within specified timeframes and budgets
