Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to select qualified contractors to provide multiple construction services for the William Humphreys Art Gallery. The project aims to enhance storage, protection, and facility modifications to support the gallery's operations, including storage areas, steel engineering works, alterations, plumbing, and outreach storage, within a contract period of 6 months.

Scope

The scope encompasses a comprehensive range of construction activities, including:

• Construction of storage areas with brick walls and steel frames
• Installation of steel engineering works such as frames, tracks, and doors
• Alterations to existing structures, including replacement of taps, signage, and acoustic panels
• Plumbing works including installation of water taps, drainage, and drainage vents
• Outreach storage modifications, including wall removal, brickwork, and installation of air bricks and shelving
• Electrical works related to extraction fans, lighting, and power connections
• Implementation of safety, environmental, and security measures as per specifications

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and related regulations
• Mandatory site visit and briefing attendance
• Registration with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in the General Building (GB) class with a minimum grading of 1GB
• Provision of at least three contactable reference letters for similar projects
• Submission of CVs and qualifications of key personnel with relevant experience in minor concrete works and steel structures
• Development of a detailed project plan and methodology, including health, safety, and environmental management plans
• Provision of a company profile demonstrating at least five years of relevant experience
• Adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety laws
• Implementation of security measures and site management procedures

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Proven experience in minor concrete works, steel fabrication, and structural modifications
• Qualified and experienced key personnel, including site managers, artisans, and safety officers
• Capability to prepare and implement comprehensive project and safety management plans
• Ability to coordinate multiple construction activities simultaneously within a strict timeline
• Knowledge of environmental management and compliance with relevant legislation
• Strong references and track record of delivering similar projects on time and within budget
