Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to procure services for the comprehensive revamp of the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) website. The project aims to modernise the website’s design, enhance functionality, improve user experience, and optimise search engine visibility (SEO). Additionally, the revamped website must ensure robust security measures, including securing communication channels with Transport Layer Security (TLS), and compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards such as POPIA and PCI DSS. The project also seeks to facilitate better stakeholder engagement through features like multimedia content, accessibility, and customer feedback integration.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses the end-to-end redesign and development of the ACSA website, including:

• Conducting user needs analysis, benchmarking against global airport standards, and stakeholder sign-off on final designs.
• Creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups for various pages and subsites (airports, Aviation Academy, Indaba Conference Centre).
• Developing responsive, accessible, and SEO-optimised front-end interfaces supporting multiple devices and browsers.
• Implementing backend functionalities such as content management, online bookings, multimedia integration, and user registration/login for stakeholders.
• Integrating APIs for live flight info, parking, airport guides, contact forms, and other services.
• Ensuring technical standards including cloud readiness (Azure hosting), security, performance, scalability, and disaster recovery.
• Providing training, documentation, support, and maintenance post-launch.
• Adhering to IT and security standards, including web application security and infrastructure protocols.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the solution must:

• Utilise the latest web standards, UI kits, and responsive design principles to ensure compatibility across devices and browsers.
• Support scalable architecture capable of handling a minimum of 1,000 concurrent users, scaling up to 5,000 during peak times.
• Implement SEO best practices, including keyword research, metadata optimisation, URL structuring, and mobile optimisation.
• Ensure security through encryption (TLS), compliance with POPIA, PCI DSS, ISO/IEC 27001, and regular vulnerability assessments.
• Support content management via user-friendly CMS interfaces for non-technical users.
• Develop subsites for airports, Aviation Academy, and conference centre with features like virtual tours, interactive maps, booking functionalities, and multimedia content.
• Integrate APIs for live flight data, parking, airport guides, contact forms, and stakeholder extranet access.
• Ensure cloud readiness for hosting on Azure, including migration of existing content, data integrity, and minimal latency.
• Implement analytics monitoring tools for performance tracking and continuous improvement.
• Support cross-platform compatibility, backup, disaster recovery, and ongoing support and maintenance.
