Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure destacking and dispatching services at Timbadola Saw Mill for a period of one (1) month. The service aims to support the operational needs of SAFCOL by providing skilled labor for efficient destacking and dispatching activities, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with company standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of labor for destacking and dispatching in the Drymill Department at Timbadola Saw Mill.
• Management of industrial relations issues, general discipline, and wage negotiations.
• Availability of substitute employees to cover absenteeism, all fully inducted and trained with safety protocols.
• Operation of transport in line with SAFCOL standards.
• Deployment of personnel per shift, including destackers, trimsaw operators, X-cut operators, general workers, strappers, graders, stackers, sorters, supervisors, and loaders.
• Compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
• Reporting on quality and production, including daily and monthly reports.
• Employment of personnel in accordance with relevant labor laws and safety standards, including PPE provision.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Provision of labor for destacking and dispatching services, with personnel working in shifts (day and night).
• Adherence to specified staffing levels per shift, including roles such as destackers, operators, graders, and supervisors.
• Compliance with timber grading standards according to SANS requirements.
• Proper stacking of timber with similar dimensions and grades.
• Monitoring and controlling recovery losses, ensuring waste does not exceed specified limits.
• Continuous quality control measures, including moisture content and size measurements.
• Maintenance of destacking lines and equipment to ensure high availability and safety.
• Proper stacking of stickers and good housekeeping practices.
• Regular safety inspections and hazard identification.
• Accurate daily and monthly reporting on production and quality metrics.
• Provision of PPE and safety gear to all personnel, with weekly evaluations of PPE condition.

Skills Requirements

The tender specifies that the service provider's personnel must possess:

• Experience in sawmilling, forestry, or agriculture-related contract management.
• Ability to manage industrial relations issues, discipline, and wage negotiations.
