Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to supply assessment scripts and test sheets to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for a period of three years. The provider must have relevant experience in printing, packaging, and delivering examination materials, ensuring quality and timely delivery to support UJ’s examination processes.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply and delivery of assessment scripts and test sheets in specified formats and packaging.
• Provision of samples for evaluation purposes.
• Handling emergency printing requirements, including reprints and associated costs.
• Packaging examination materials in packs of 50, with specified plastic packaging and size specifications.
• Printing assessment materials in various formats, including A4, A3, and saddle-stitched booklets, with specific colour coding and perforations.
• Delivering materials in specified colours, sizes, and paper qualities, with detailed specifications for each type of assessment book.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Packaging in packs of 50, with clear plastic bags measuring 450 x 600 x 50 microns.
• Assessment scripts and test sheets must be printed on white 80gsm bond/cartridge paper.
• Books must be folded, collated, saddle-stitched with two wires, and trimmed flush.
• Assessment materials must be printed in specified colours (Pantone codes) on the top of the first page, with all content printed in black.
• Different formats of books are required, including 8-page, 4-page, and saddle-stitched A4 and A3 books, with detailed specifications for each.
• Suppliers must provide samples for evaluation and advise on reprinting procedures and costs.

Skills and Experience Requirements

The tender evaluation will consider:

• Company profile demonstrating at least 10 points, including business establishment and relevant experience.
• Proven capability in web, large format, litho, and digital printing, as well as editing, layout, branding, picking, packaging, and distribution, totaling 10 points.
• At least three reference letters for similar work, with a minimum of 50 references, each worth 10 points.
• Compliance with B-BBEE level (20 points), SMME status (5 points), and ownership criteria such as Black Women-Owned (5 points) and Youth-Owned (5 points).
• Demonstrated commitment to ESG sustainability plans.

Overall, bidders must demonstrate relevant experience, technical capability, and compliance with socio-economic criteria to be considered for the contract.
