Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, install, and service air conditioners at various facilities managed by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ). The project aims to ensure the provision of efficient cooling solutions, compliance with safety and quality standards, and ongoing maintenance support to enhance the comfort and operational efficiency of the facilities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of new air conditioning units of specified capacities (8 BTU and 12 BTU).
• Installation of air conditioners, including cabling up to 140 meters connected to the distribution board with breakers.
• Comprehensive servicing and fault reporting for existing air conditioning systems, including cleaning, corrosion treatment, and system checks.
• Provision of sundries and consumables necessary for the operation and maintenance of the units.
• Adherence to all relevant building, electrical, plumbing, and safety standards.
• Completion within a contract period of one month, with provisions for site inspections, safety compliance, and disposal of damaged materials.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Supply and installation of specified air conditioning units with proper cabling and electrical connections.
• Detailed fault reports and system checks covering filters, evaporators, condensers, motors, compressors, thermostats, and leak detection.
• Use of quality materials and components conforming to SABS standards.
• Compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Environmental Management System, and other relevant legislation.
• Provision of electrical and plumbing certificates of compliance (COCs) upon completion.
• Proper disposal of removed damaged materials at registered dumpsites with supporting certificates.
• Adherence to project timelines, with penalties for delays.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• CIDB grading of 1GB/1ME or higher, indicating capability in construction, repairs, and maintenance works.
• Proven experience in supply, installation, and servicing of air conditioning systems.
• Technical expertise in electrical wiring, system fault diagnosis, and repairs.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety standards, including the ability to develop and implement safety plans.
• Ability to provide detailed fault reports and system maintenance documentation.
• Capacity to manage site establishment, logistics, and disposal of waste materials responsibly.
• Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and environmental management practices.
