Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a qualified HVAC service provider to supply, deliver, install, and commission an extraction system at Building 19 on the CSIR Scientia Campus. The project aims to ensure an effective ventilation solution that meets specified technical standards and safety requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Supply and delivery of extraction system components as per the Bill of Quantities.
• Installation and commissioning of the extraction system, including ducting, fans, and associated components.
• Re-use of existing on-site infrastructure where applicable.
• Installation of fans with variable speed drives (VSD) and integration with control systems.
• Provision of all necessary components, materials, and safety measures to ensure system operability.
• Provision of handover documentation, including operational and maintenance manuals, certificates of compliance, and safety files.
• Workshop drawings prior to installation, with discussions and approvals.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Complete installation of ventilation systems as per the Bill of Quantities.
• Galvanized steel ducting for Smoke Density Chamber and OSU Rate of Heat Release Apparatus systems.
• Canopies and all associated components.
• Fans equipped with variable speed drives (VSD) for seamless control.
• Fans to be installed within working areas with stop/start buttons.
• Rigging equipment to be hired at the bidder’s cost for lifting equipment to roof level.
• Compliance with all relevant local and international standards (e.g., SANS, ASHRAE).
• Adherence to CSIR safety procedures during installation.
• System to be fully operational with all necessary components and materials.
• Fans and associated components to come with a twelve-month guarantee.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in designing, supplying, and installing HVAC ducted systems.
• Capability to interpret and produce workshop drawings and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in working with international standards and safety protocols.
• Registered with the CIDB at grade 3ME or higher, or capable of registration prior to contract award.
• Experience in handling projects involving complex ventilation systems and integration with control systems.
• Ability to coordinate rigging and lifting operations safely and effectively.
• Capacity to provide comprehensive handover documentation and after-sales support, including guarantees and certificates of compliance.
